Overview
This page describes the packaging in which your CIVARA WORKSHOP order is dispatched, the labels attached to your product, the export documentation that accompanies your shipment, and our country of origin disclosure practices. We are committed to accurate, compliant labelling in every market we serve and to packaging that protects your piece during international transit.
PART A – PRODUCT LABELLING
A1. Care and Content Label
Every CIVARA WORKSHOP product is dispatched with a securely attached care and content label. The label is permanently affixed – not loosely inserted – and is positioned to avoid damage to the textile: on shawls and scarves, at one selvedge edge, typically at a corner; on robes and larger garments, at the inner back neckline or inner back hem.
The label contains the following information:
| Label Element | Content | Regulatory basis |
|---|---|---|
| Brand name | CIVARA WORKSHOP | Brand identification |
| Fibre composition | 100% Cashmere / Cachemire (bilingual for Canadian market) | EU Textile Reg. 1007/2011; UK Textile Labelling Regs 2012; US TFPIA; Canadian Textile Labelling Act |
| Country of origin | Made in India | Customs law (all markets); US TFPIA; Canadian Textile Labelling Act |
| Care symbols | ISO 3758 / GINETEX standard symbols | EU, UK, and international care labelling standards |
| Dealer identity (US) | CIVARA WORKSHOP, Srinagar, India | US Textile Fiber Products Identification Act |
A2. Care Symbol Key
The care symbols on your label correspond to the following instructions. A full explanation of care methods is provided on our Pashmina Fibre Composition, Origin and Care page.
| Symbol | Instruction |
|---|---|
| Hand wash (30°C) | Hand wash in cold water – maximum 30°C – with gentle cashmere detergent |
| Do not machine wash | Machine washing will damage the fibre |
| Do not bleach | No bleach or optical brighteners |
| Dry flat | Lay flat to dry; do not tumble dry or hang wet |
| Cool iron with pressing cloth | Iron at cool setting only; always use a pressing cloth |
| Dry clean (P) | Professional dry cleaning is suitable; avoid PERC solvent |
A3. Additional Label for Embellished Products
Where a product carries hand-embroidery or other surface embellishments, the label additionally notes “Contains hand-embroidery – dry clean only recommended” and the thread composition if different from the base fabric.
PART B – PRODUCT PACKAGING
B1. Inner Packaging
Your CIVARA WORKSHOP piece is folded and wrapped in acid-free tissue paper before being placed in the outer packaging. Acid-free tissue protects the Pashmina from moisture, friction, and contact with potentially reactive surfaces during transit. It also prevents colour transfer between pieces in multi-item orders.
B2. Outer Packaging
Your wrapped piece is placed in a CIVARA WORKSHOP branded outer box or rigid mailer, sized appropriately for the product. The outer packaging is chosen for its protective properties – it must withstand the physical handling of international express courier transit, including compression, stacking, and the temperature and humidity variations of air freight.
[INSERT: confirm exact outer packaging specification – e.g., rigid cardboard gift box with magnetic closure for retail orders; reinforced corrugated mailer for institutional/wholesale orders – adjust this section accordingly]
B3. Sustainable Packaging Commitment
[INSERT: confirm packaging sustainability position before publishing. If the following is accurate, retain it; if not yet confirmed, remove or adjust:]
CIVARA WORKSHOP uses no single-use plastic in the inner wrapping of products. The tissue paper used is acid-free and recyclable. The outer box is made from [INSERT: FSC-certified / recycled / recyclable] cardboard. We are committed to minimising packaging waste while ensuring that your piece arrives in perfect condition.
B4. Packaging for Institutional and Wholesale Orders
Institutional and wholesale orders of multiple items are packed in consolidated outer cartons appropriate for the volume and weight of the shipment. Each individual piece within the carton is individually wrapped in acid-free tissue and labelled with the relevant order reference. Cartons are sealed and marked with the CIVARA WORKSHOP name, origin address, and IEC number.
PART C – EXPORT DOCUMENTATION
Every CIVARA WORKSHOP international shipment is accompanied by the following export documentation, prepared in accordance with Indian export law and international customs requirements. Shipments are sent on a duties-and-taxes-prepaid basis: the destination-country import duty and import VAT or GST are collected at checkout and paid on the buyer’s behalf at import (see our Pricing, Taxes, VAT and Import Duties page), and the shipping documents reflect this.
C1. Commercial Invoice
The commercial invoice is the primary customs document for your shipment. It contains:
| Field | Content |
|---|---|
| Seller name and address | CIVARA WORKSHOP, Abi Buchwars, Dalgate, Srinagar 190001, Jammu and Kashmir, India |
| Seller IEC | 0599032952 |
| Seller GSTIN | 01ACVPG7676H1Z8 |
| LUT ARN | AD010526001074U |
| Buyer name and address | As provided at checkout |
| Invoice number and date | Unique invoice number; date of issue |
| Product description | Full written description – e.g., “Handloom-woven Pashmina shawl, 100% Cashmere, [dimensions], [colour], Made in India” |
| HS Code | 6214.20 – all products (shawls, scarves, and robes); the robe is a single hand-woven piece of fine animal hair with no tailoring or making-up, so it classifies as 6214.20, the same as the shawls and scarves |
| Quantity | Number of pieces |
| Unit value (FOB) | Value per piece in USD |
| Total value (FOB) | Total shipment value in USD |
| Currency | USD |
| Country of origin | India |
| Terms of delivery | DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) – import duties and taxes prepaid by seller |
| GST treatment | Zero-rated export under LUT – 0% IGST |
The commercial invoice value is the accurate commercial value of the goods. CIVARA WORKSHOP does not under-declare shipment values for customs purposes under any circumstances.
C2. Packing List
A packing list accompanies every shipment, detailing the number of packages, their dimensions and weights, and the contents of each package.
C3. Airway Bill or Courier Waybill
The carrier’s airway bill or waybill serves as the contract of carriage and provides the tracking number for your shipment.
C4. PTQCC Certificate (Where Applicable)
Where PTQCC fibre verification has been conducted for the product batch, a copy of the PTQCC certificate is included in the shipment documentation. For institutional orders, the original certificate may be included; for retail orders, a copy. Additional copies are available on request from hello@civaraworkshop.com.
C5. Shipping Bill
For regulatory purposes, a Shipping Bill is filed with Indian Customs through the ICEGATE portal for every export consignment. The Shipping Bill number is recorded in our export documentation and is cross-referenced in the EDPMS system for FEMA compliance. The Shipping Bill is an Indian customs document and is not typically shared with the buyer, but is available on request for institutional and wholesale buyers who need it for their records.
PART D – COUNTRY OF ORIGIN
D1. Statement of Origin
The country of origin for all CIVARA WORKSHOP products is India.
Specifically: all fibre is sourced from Ladakh, India; all yarn spinning is carried out in Kashmir, India; all fabric is handloom-woven in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, India; all finishing, quality inspection, and packaging is carried out in Srinagar, India.
This statement of origin appears on the product label (Made in India), the commercial invoice (Country of Origin: India), all product pages on civaraworkshop.com, all Etsy product listings, and all export shipping documents.
D2. Rules of Origin
India is the country of origin for all CIVARA WORKSHOP products under the substantial transformation test applied by customs authorities globally – the fibre, yarn, and fabric production from which the finished textile derives its essential character all take place in India.
For buyers in countries that have trade preference agreements with India – including the ASEAN-India Free Trade Agreement, the India-UAE Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), and others – CIVARA WORKSHOP can provide a Certificate of Origin issued by an authorised body (such as the Export Inspection Agency or a designated Chamber of Commerce) if required for preferential duty treatment at the destination. Please contact hello@civaraworkshop.com before your order is dispatched if you require a Certificate of Origin.
