Overview
This page explains how prices are set on civaraworkshop.com, how Indian GST applies to our exports, and how destination-country import duties and taxes are handled. We price on an all-inclusive basis: for every destination we ship to, the import duty and import VAT or GST that your country charges are calculated and collected at checkout and paid on your behalf when your parcel is imported. There is nothing further to pay when your order arrives at your door.
Please read this page before placing your order. If you have a question about the charges that apply in your country, contact us at hello@civaraworkshop.com before ordering.
PART A – PRICING AND CURRENCY
A1. Display Currency
All prices on civaraworkshop.com are displayed in United States Dollars (USD) as the primary currency. Where our store is configured to display prices in additional currencies, including Euros (EUR) and British Pounds (GBP), those amounts are converted from USD by our currency plugin. The USD price is the definitive price.
A2. What the Displayed Total Includes
The product price shown on each product page covers the cost of Changthangi Pashmina fibre and yarn, handloom weaving and artisan production in Srinagar, quality inspection and finishing, PTQCC fibre verification where applicable, and standard packaging in Civara Workshop branded materials.
At checkout, before you pay, your order total is itemised to show:
- The product price or prices
- The shipping charge for your destination
- The destination-country import duty and import VAT or GST that apply to your order, where your country levies them
The total you pay at checkout is therefore the landed cost of your order. It includes the destination-country import duty and import VAT or GST for the countries we ship to. It does not include bank charges or card fees levied by your own card issuer or payment processor, which are outside our control.
A3. Price Changes
We reserve the right to update our prices at any time. The price displayed at the time you submit your order and receive your order acknowledgement email is the price that applies to your order. Subsequent price changes do not affect confirmed orders.
A4. Currency Conversion for Non-USD Payments
If you pay in a currency other than USD, the conversion applied to your transaction is determined by your payment processor (Razorpay or PayPal) at the time of payment. CIVARA WORKSHOP is not responsible for any difference between the displayed converted price and the amount actually charged to your card or PayPal account due to exchange-rate movements or processor conversion fees.
PART B – INDIAN GST AND EXPORT TREATMENT
B1. Zero-Rated Exports Under Indian GST
All orders dispatched from India to an address outside India are exports within the meaning of the IGST Act 2017. Exports of goods from India are zero-rated supplies under the Indian GST framework. CIVARA WORKSHOP exports all international orders under a Letter of Undertaking (LUT), filed annually on the GST portal in accordance with Rule 96A of the CGST Rules 2017.
This means:
- No Indian GST is charged to any international buyer on any order shipped outside India
- The price you pay on civaraworkshop.com is free of Indian GST
- Our export invoices reflect zero-rated GST treatment and reference the LUT ARN
GSTIN: 01ACVPG7676H1Z8
LUT ARN: AD010526001074U
B2. Domestic Indian Orders
Orders for delivery within India are subject to Indian GST, calculated at checkout and itemised on your tax invoice. For CIVARA WORKSHOP’s pashmina shawls, scarves, and robes, GST is charged at the rate applicable to made-up textile articles of this kind, currently 18%, shown according to your place of supply:
- Buyers in Jammu and Kashmir (our home state): CGST 9% and SGST 9%, shown as two separate lines on the invoice.
- Buyers in other Indian states: IGST 18%, shown as a single line.
A GST-compliant tax invoice is issued for every domestic order. If you are a GST-registered business, provide your GSTIN at checkout or by emailing hello@civaraworkshop.com so that it appears on your invoice and you can claim input tax credit where eligible.
B3. Input Tax Credit
As a zero-rated exporter under LUT, CIVARA WORKSHOP is entitled to claim a refund of Input Tax Credit (ITC) on the GST paid on materials, services, and inputs used in the production of exported goods. This is a matter of Indian domestic tax compliance and does not affect the price or GST treatment of your order.
PART C – DESTINATION-COUNTRY DUTIES AND TAXES
C1. All Duties and Taxes Included
For every destination we ship to, CIVARA WORKSHOP calculates the destination-country import duty and import VAT or GST that apply to your order and collects them at checkout as part of your order total. We ship via an international carrier service that clears your parcel through customs and pays those charges to your country’s authorities on our behalf, funded from the amount you paid at checkout.
In practice this means:
- The total shown at checkout is the full landed cost of your order
- You will not be asked to pay further import duty, import VAT, GST, or customs handling fees to the carrier or to your country’s customs authority on or after delivery
- Your parcel clears customs without being held for payment
This arrangement governs duties and taxes only. It does not change where risk of loss or damage passes, which is set out in our Shipping Policy and Terms and Conditions and is unaffected by this page.
C2. Destinations We Serve
We ship on an all-inclusive basis to a defined and growing list of destinations. The countries we currently serve are those available to select at checkout; if your country is not available there, we do not yet ship to it on this basis. We are actively extending coverage to further destinations, including Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, and Japan.
If your country is not yet available and you would like to order, contact us at hello@civaraworkshop.com before ordering. We can often arrange delivery to your destination on an individual basis, and we will confirm the terms before you commit.
C3. How This Works in Specific Markets
The all-inclusive total at checkout already accounts for the rules below; they are set out here for transparency.
European Union. The EU ended its EUR 150 low-value customs-duty exemption on 1 July 2026. Import duty and import VAT at your member state’s standard rate are calculated and included in your checkout total at all order values, and remitted on import. You pay nothing further at the border.
United Kingdom. For orders with a consignment value above GBP 135, UK import VAT (currently 20%) and any applicable import duty are included at checkout and remitted on import. For orders at or below GBP 135, CIVARA WORKSHOP does not charge UK VAT: we are not registered for UK VAT and do not collect UK supply VAT on low-value consignments, and no import VAT or customs duty arises at the UK border for consignments at or below that value.
United States. The United States does not levy import VAT. Since the suspension of the USD 800 de minimis exemption on 29 August 2025, all imported parcels are subject to US import duty regardless of value; that duty is calculated and included in your checkout total. CIVARA WORKSHOP does not collect US state sales or use tax; any use-tax obligation is a matter between you and your state’s tax authority.
Other markets we serve (including Canada, Switzerland, Norway, the United Arab Emirates, and others shown at checkout). The destination-country import duty and any import VAT or GST are calculated and included in your checkout total and remitted on import, on the same all-inclusive basis.
C4. We Do Not Use IOSS
CIVARA WORKSHOP does not participate in the EU Import One-Stop Shop (IOSS) scheme. EU import VAT on your order is remitted through the carrier at the point of import rather than through an IOSS return. This does not change what you pay: your EU duty and VAT are included at checkout in either case.
PART D – EXPORT DOCUMENTATION
All CIVARA WORKSHOP international shipments are accompanied by a commercial invoice and packing list that includes the seller details (CIVARA WORKSHOP, Abi Buchwars, Dalgate, Srinagar 190001, Jammu and Kashmir, India), the Importer Exporter Code (IEC) 0599032952, the GSTIN 01ACVPG7676H1Z8, the LUT ARN AD010526001074U, the buyer name and delivery address, the product description, the HS code (6214.20 for all products), the country of origin (India), the declared commercial value, and the currency. Shipping documents note that destination duties and taxes are prepaid where the all-inclusive basis applies.
We declare accurate values and descriptions on all export documents. We will not under-declare the value of your shipment at your request or for any other reason. Misrepresentation of customs value is unlawful under Indian export law and the customs law of destination countries.
PART E – INVOICES AND RECEIPTS
An order confirmation email is sent to your registered email address immediately after payment is authorised. This email serves as your receipt for the amount paid to CIVARA WORKSHOP, including the duty and tax component collected at checkout. A formal export invoice is prepared at the time of dispatch and a copy is included with your shipment; you may request a copy at any time by emailing hello@civaraworkshop.com with your order number. If you are a GST-registered business in India purchasing for domestic delivery, a GST-compliant tax invoice will be issued; please advise us of your GSTIN at the time of ordering.
