# Spiritual and Religious Use Disclaimer

*Last updated: June 22, 2026*
*Published by: Civara Workshop*

Civara Workshop produces hand-woven textiles that are used in religious, ceremonial, meditative, and contemplative practice across several traditions, including monastic robes and meditation wraps. We make each item with care and to the specifications our customers provide. This page explains, plainly and with respect for the traditions our work serves, what our products are and what they are not, so that what you expect of them and what we offer are the same thing.

## What Our Products Are

Every item we make is a physical textile: pashmina fibre, spun into yarn and woven on a handloom in Srinagar, finished to a defined weight, dimension, and construction. What you receive is an object of cloth, made to the specification you confirm. Its qualities are material qualities, fibre, weave, weight, dimension, colour, and finish, and these are the qualities we stand behind.

## What We Do Not Guarantee

We make no representation or guarantee as to any spiritual, religious, meditative, devotional, or energetic experience, benefit, or outcome arising from the ownership or use of our products. Our textiles are supports for practice, not sources of attainment. Whatever benefit may be found in their use belongs to the practice and to the practitioner, not to the cloth itself.

## On Merit and Material Quality

Where our textiles are offered or used within a tradition’s practices of merit and generosity, we wish to be clear about something the traditions themselves teach: the value of such an act rests in the sincerity and intention with which it is made, not in the material quality, weight, or cost of the object. We make no claim, and we ask that none be inferred, that a finer or heavier textile carries greater merit or confers greater benefit than a simpler one. We make our textiles well because the work deserves to be done well, not because doing so purchases a spiritual result.

## We Are Not a Religious Authority

Civara Workshop is a textile workshop. We are not a religious institution, teacher, or authority of any tradition. We do not consecrate, bless, ordain, or confer any religious status, and the making or purchase of an item from us carries no such conferral. Any ceremony, consecration, or observance appropriate to your tradition is a matter for you, your teacher, or your community, and is wholly separate from the textile we provide.

## Suitability for Your Tradition Is Yours to Confirm

The requirements for robes and practice textiles differ between traditions, lineages, and communities, and may be governed by specific rules of colour, measurement, construction, or material. We make each item to the specification you provide, but we cannot determine whether a given specification meets the requirements of your tradition, lineage, teacher, or vows. Confirming that what you order is appropriate and permissible for your purpose is your responsibility. If you are uncertain, we encourage you to consult your teacher or community before ordering, and you are welcome to contact us to discuss specifications before you confirm your order.

## This Disclaimer and Your Right to Return

Because our products are physical textiles, dissatisfaction with a perceived spiritual, religious, meditative, or energetic outcome is not a fault in the item and is not grounds for return or refund. Faults in the material, the construction, or the fulfilment of your confirmed specification are a separate matter, and are addressed in full by our [Returns, Refunds, Exchanges and Cancellations Policy](/returns-policy/).

## Respect and Affiliation

We make these textiles in service of those who use them, and with respect for the traditions in which they are used. Nothing on this website should be taken as implying the endorsement, sponsorship, or affiliation of any religious figure, institution, or community, except where such a relationship is expressly and accurately stated.

If you have any question about the nature of our products or their suitability for your practice, please write to us at hello@civaraworkshop.com before placing your order.
