# Shipping, Delivery and Production Lead Times

## Overview

Because every CIVARA WORKSHOP product is made to order on a traditional handloom, your total order fulfilment time has two distinct components: **production lead time** and **shipping transit time**. This page explains both in full, tells you what to expect at each stage, and sets out your rights if something is delayed.

Please read this page before placing your order. If you have a specific deadline – for example, a retreat, ceremony, or monastic ordination – contact us at hello@civaraworkshop.com before ordering so we can confirm whether your timeline is achievable.

## PART A – PRODUCTION LEAD TIME

### A1. We Hold No Finished Stock

CIVARA WORKSHOP does not hold a warehouse of finished products. Every shawl, meditation wrap, and monastic robe is woven specifically for the customer who orders it, using Changthangi Pashmina fibre sourced from Ladakh and processed at our Srinagar workshop. This means that from the moment your order is confirmed, a production process begins that is dedicated entirely to your item.

### A2. The Production Stages

The standard production cycle for a single CIVARA WORKSHOP item runs approximately **26 to 28 days from the date your specifications are confirmed in writing**. The stages are:

### A3. Items With Embellishments

If your order includes hand-embroidery, a monogram, or other surface embellishments, please add approximately **5 to 7 additional working days** to the production timeline above. We will confirm the adjusted dispatch estimate in your Specification Confirmation email.

### A4. Wholesale and Institutional Orders

For orders of multiple items placed by monasteries, retreat centres, yoga studios, or other institutional buyers, production lead times are extended. Please refer to our Wholesale and Institutional Buyer Terms for details, or contact hello@civaraworkshop.com with your requirements before placing a wholesale order.

## PART B – DISPATCH AND SHIPPING

### B1. Where We Ship From

All CIVARA WORKSHOP orders are dispatched from:

All exports are made under CIVARA WORKSHOP’s Importer Exporter Code (IEC): **0599032952**, issued by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), Government of India.

### B2. Shipping Carrier

We ship internationally via **DHL Express**, using its delivered-duty-paid service so that your order clears customs with import duty and taxes already settled (see Part C). All shipments are fully tracked from dispatch to delivery.

If you have a carrier preference or a specific courier account you would like us to use, please advise us at the time of specification confirmation and we will do our best to accommodate the request; doing so may change the duty and tax handling described in Part C, and additional charges may apply.

### B3. Tracking

Once your item has been dispatched, you will receive an email at your registered email address containing your carrier tracking number, a direct link to the carrier’s tracking portal, and your estimated delivery window. You can also track your order at any time by contacting us at hello@civaraworkshop.com with your order number.

### B4. Estimated Shipping Transit Times

The following are estimated transit times **after dispatch** via express international courier. These are estimates provided by the carrier and are not guaranteed delivery dates. Actual transit times may vary due to customs clearance, public holidays, carrier capacity, and remote-area routing.

For most destinations, buyers should plan for a total order-to-delivery window of **5 to 7 weeks** from the date of order placement. Buyers with urgent requirements should contact us before ordering.

### B5. Shipping Charges

Shipping charges are calculated at checkout based on the destination country and the weight and dimensions of your parcel. The shipping charge is clearly displayed before you complete payment.

For certain remote postcodes and addresses, the carrier may apply a remote-area surcharge. Where this applies, we will notify you before dispatch and you will have the option to approve the additional charge or cancel your order for a full refund.

### B6. Destinations We Serve

We ship on an all-inclusive basis to a defined and growing list of destinations. The countries we currently serve are those available to select at checkout; if your country is not available there, we do not yet ship to it. We are actively extending coverage to further destinations, including Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, and Japan. If your country is not yet available and you would like to order, contact us at hello@civaraworkshop.com before ordering – we can often arrange delivery on an individual basis and will confirm the terms before you commit.

## PART C – CUSTOMS, DUTIES, AND IMPORT TAXES

### C1. Our Export and Duty Practice

CIVARA WORKSHOP ships on an all-inclusive basis. For every destination we ship to, the destination-country import duty and import VAT or GST that apply to your order are calculated and collected at checkout and paid on your behalf when your parcel is imported. We ship via DHL Express, which clears your parcel through customs and remits the applicable duty and tax to your country’s authorities, funded from the amount collected at checkout. Your parcel is not held at the border for payment. Full detail, including how this works in the EU, UK, and US, is set out in our Pricing, Taxes and Import Duties page.

We declare accurate commercial values, product descriptions, and HS codes on all shipping documents. We do not under-declare the value of shipments at the request of buyers or for any other reason.

### C2. You Will Not Be Charged at the Border

Because import duty and import VAT or GST are collected at checkout and remitted on your behalf, you will **not** be contacted by the carrier or your country’s customs authority to pay import duty, import VAT, GST, or a customs handling fee on or after delivery, for the destinations we serve. The duty and tax component of your order is shown in your checkout total and order confirmation email.

Two points of detail, explained in full on our Pricing page: orders to the United Kingdom with a value at or below GBP 135 carry no UK VAT; and the United States does not levy import VAT, though US import duty now applies to all parcels and is included at checkout.

### C4. EU Buyers

For EU destinations, import duty and import VAT at your member state’s standard rate are included at checkout and remitted on import; you pay nothing at the border. The EU’s EUR 150 low-value customs-duty exemption ended on 1 July 2026, so import duty applies at all order values. CIVARA WORKSHOP does not use the EU Import One-Stop Shop (IOSS) scheme; EU import VAT is remitted through the carrier at the point of import rather than through an IOSS return. This does not change what you pay.

### C5. UK Buyers

For orders with a value **above GBP 135**, UK import VAT (currently 20%) and any applicable import duty are included at checkout and remitted on import. For orders **at or below GBP 135**, CIVARA WORKSHOP does not charge UK VAT: we are not registered for UK VAT, and no import VAT or customs duty arises at the UK border for consignments at or below that value.

### C6. Customs Delays

Although duties and taxes are prepaid, customs clearance times still vary by country and are outside CIVARA WORKSHOP’s control. We cannot be held responsible for delays caused by destination customs authorities. If your shipment is held in customs for an extended period, please contact us at hello@civaraworkshop.com and we will liaise with the carrier on your behalf.

## PART D – DELAYS, NON-DELIVERY, AND YOUR RIGHTS

### D1. Production Delays

We plan every production run carefully, but handloom production involves artisanal processes that can occasionally take longer than anticipated. If your item cannot be dispatched within the estimated production window, we will notify you by email within **3 business days** of identifying the delay, provide a revised dispatch estimate, and give you the option to continue your order under the revised timeline or cancel for a full refund (processed within 7 business days of your cancellation request). We will never dispatch your order late without notifying you first.

### D2. Shipping Delays

Express international courier shipments occasionally experience delays beyond the carrier’s estimated transit windows, particularly during peak periods (November to January) or due to extraordinary events. If your tracked shipment has not updated for more than **5 business days** after the last tracking scan, or has not been delivered within **15 business days** after the estimated delivery date, please contact us at hello@civaraworkshop.com. We will liaise with the carrier on your behalf and keep you informed.

### D3. Lost Shipments

If a shipment is confirmed lost by the carrier – defined as no delivery confirmation and no tracking movement for **30 or more days** after dispatch – CIVARA WORKSHOP will file a carrier claim and, subject to the outcome of that investigation, issue either a full refund or a replacement item (produced at priority) at your choice. We will open a formal investigation within 5 business days of you notifying us of non-receipt.

### D4. Rights of EU, UK, and Australian Buyers

If you are located in the **European Union, United Kingdom, or Australia** and your order is not delivered within the timeframe we stated at the time of purchase, or within a reasonable time where no specific date was given, you have the right under applicable consumer law to request that we re-dispatch or remedy the non-delivery, and, if we are unable to do so within a reasonable further period, to cancel your order and receive a full refund. These rights exist independently of our internal policies and are not limited by anything stated on this page.

### D5. FTC Notice for US Buyers

For buyers in the **United States**, CIVARA WORKSHOP operates in accordance with the FTC’s Mail, Internet, or Telephone Order Rule. We have a reasonable basis for all delivery representations made on this website. If we are unable to dispatch your order within the stated timeframe, we will notify you promptly and give you the opportunity to cancel for a full refund, consistent with that Rule.

## PART E – DELIVERY CONFIRMATION AND RISK

Risk of loss and damage to your item passes to you upon delivery of the item to the carrier at our premises in Srinagar. The all-inclusive handling of import duties and taxes described in Part C and on our Pricing page does not change this allocation of risk. This allocation of risk also does not affect your statutory rights under applicable consumer law in your home country, including rights relating to damage in transit and non-delivery.

We strongly recommend that you inspect your parcel upon delivery and note any visible damage to the outer packaging with the carrier’s delivery personnel before signing for receipt.
