# Hand Loomed Meditation Shawl

A practitioner who sits in sustained practice needs a shawl that does specific work. It must have the weight to hold warmth across a long session. It must have the texture to stay in place without demanding adjustment. It must be at dimensions that enclose the seated body, not merely cover the shoulders. This is what a zhen is – the upper-body practice shawl of the Tibetan tradition, made at a weight and scale the fashion market has not produced at this specification.

Zhens are traditionally woven from wool. The Zhen from this workshop is pure Himalayan Pashmina – hand-loomed over 12 days in Srinagar, 2.5 meters at 250 × 100cm. Wrapped around the seated body, the shawl encloses the shoulders and falls across the lap in a single layer of pure Pashmina. The Double Zhen extends the same cloth to a full 5 meters, at 500 × 100cm, hand-loomed over 24 days, worn folded at the midpoint into two full layers across the body – for practitioners who want the enclosure of the full weight.

Every shawl is commissioned to order in Kashmir – hand-loomed, dyed to your chosen color, and independently certified 100% pure Himalayan Pashmina before it leaves the workshop. The Order & Shipping tab below shows exactly what that commission looks like from confirmation to dispatch.
